Applying Cling L or N Plates to a Windscreen
The type identified are "Pen-Stick, aka Cling" The placing these plates on vehicles for learners or novice drivers is a legal requirement. These plates are sized at approx. 185x185mm with a Red L or N on a white background and sticks to the inside vehicle windscreen glass facing outward. This product is ideal for those who may be car sharing or for supervising drivers as these may be placed on and off with care many times .... Instructions:
1. Remove L or N plate from backing board and retain the backing board, if intending
to remove the plates and store.
2. Position "right side up" and place on inside vehicle glass, facing outward, ensuring
that the inside windscreen glass is clean to the front and back of your vehicle.
3. Carefully rub flat onto clean glass from the top of the plate to the bottom, taking out
any trapped air, slightly moisten if necessary.
Storing.
Carefully remove and replace face down on the backing board, taking care not to
crease the board or the plate, ideally store in a cool place.

Front Facing.
As a useful guide, place "Cling L or N plates" from the inside of the vehicle facing outward. Place to the "top front passenger side windscreen" by placing in this position is highly visible to other road users and less obtrusive to the driver.
Rear Facing
By placing L or N plates the rear of the vehicle, place "top driver side of rear windscreen". Again this position is highly visible for following road users and less intrusive for the driver, more especially when reversing. This is inserted as a guide only... you may place these plates where the best view for other road users and the driver with the least obstruction to the front and the rear.
Tinted Windows?
If your vehicle has a "dark tinted rear window", these may not be suitable as they may not be clearly visible to following motorists and may not be suitable for a driving test, consider semi-permanent adhesive plates which may be placed on the outside of your vehicle.
