Unlike rod operated controls, which are vehicle specific .... use our universal dual controls again and again in different vehicles.
How they Work
The clutch features a double pulley system on the control unit to gain maximum pedal travel. The cables pass through a pulley mounted to the vehicle bulkhead on the driver side and are attached to the vehicle controls with a pedal clamp. Uniquely, the control system pedals can be removed simply and easily by lifting them from the support brackets on the control unit – there are no locking pins or nuts to loosen! Ideal for times when the vehicle is not being used for tuition.
FAST dual controls use bowden cables.
Which have a nylon lining to prevent metal-to-metal contact (the cause of cable failure). The cables are tested to a breaking strain of 450Kg (5KN), it would take an elephant to generate that pressure! As with other makes of dual controls, the system needs to be correctly installed and maintained to ensure trouble-free operation. All new dual controls are supplied with fitting instructions for manual and automatic cars.
Rod Vs Cable Dual Controls.
Unlike rod operated Dual Controls which are vehicle specific, and must be considered "throw away" when changing your vehicle, our FAST fitting Cable Dual Controls may be removed and re used again and again! Note that some Fords and vehicles with U-section pedal arms may require an adapter (T-clamp) available at extra cost.
