Information and Use Instructions: We supply instructions with our signage products and repeat them here so you always have access to required information. and also for the benefit of those wishing to purchase. These instructions are for our neo-lite magnetic vehicle roof signs Please Note: Neo-Lite signs are fitted with Neodymium rare earth magnets which generate powerful magnetic fields, items such as pacemakers and magnetically stored data (credit cards, computer disks etc) may be adversely affected by strong magnets, always keep them well apart. Large - Magnetic Roof Sign: Dimensions: Base 79 x 27cm (31 x 10") Height 24cm (9.5"). Gloss acrylic finish and long life UV-stability, therfore these signs will NOT fade or yellow with age and can also be supplied with illumination. Medium - Magnetic Roof Sign: Dimensions: Base 72 x 24cm (29 x 9.5"), Height 23cm (9"). Gloss acrylic finish and long life UV-stability, therfore these signs will NOT fade or yellow with age and can be supplied with illumination. What Sign? A large roof sign is simply 50mm longer than our medium signs, however they are designed more for a flat type roof. If, you are unsure and know a local driving instructor, you could ask to try their sign on your car and revert with the length of the apex sign when ordering. Rule of Thumb You could also try this...Take a strong piece of flat carboard, wallboard or even a brush handle, 790mm in length. If the roof falls off at both ends, looking at it from the rear of the vehicle, then select a medium apex sign. Roof Profiles If your vehicle has a different roof profile for example, roof ribs or ridges please advise, as you vehicle may require additional spacers or the existing roof sign magnetics may be repositioned to suit your particular vehicle (please see images and "how to reposition magpads" below). If you are still unsure, you may forward the vehicle make, model and year, or an an image of the roof taken from the rear of the vehicle. Aero Magnetic Roof Sign: Designed to maximize display space and to reduce drag compared with traditional roof signs. The main display area is to the back and sides and the aerodynamic front, allows the sides to be seen from the front of the car. Dimensions: Base 63 x 58cm (25 x 23") Max, Height 23cm (8.5"). Gloss acrylic finish and long life UV-stability. These signs will NOT fade or yellow with age Small Magnetic Roof Signs (Top Hat) For those who don't need a large display area, useful when teaching in the client's car. The base is just 26 x 26cm (10.5 x 10.5"), height 24cm (9"). Gloss acrylic finish and long life UV-stability. These signs will NOT fade or yellow with age. This sign has "limited space available" beneath a regulation L-plate which can be personalised with a short name. Delivery: Your roof sign will be checked, wrapped and shipped to the address stated on the order and included will be care instructions and your receipt. Unwrapping Your New Roof Sign. Special care should be taken when opening the carton / box without the use of blades or sharp objects, as we will not be held responsible should you damage the item upon opening and remove any protective wrappings and or padding and recycle all paddings and wrappings. Precautions Before Use: Ensure vehicle roof is clean, dry and free of grease, wax polish and ice. The sign should be placed centrally on the roof ensuring that magnets have maximum contact with the surface. Do not exceed the legal speed limit and in adverse weather conditions such as strong winds, ice and heavy snowfall, remove sign from the roof. Do not leave the sign on the vehicle when there is a risk of ice as overnight ice, as ice can creep beneath magnets and the sign may raise slightly and lose grip. Positioning: Position the roof sign in the most optimum adherence to the roof, rest the sign on the long edge, placing your hands beneath the sign on the opposite edge and lower gently into position. Never try to push or pull from the front or top sign facings. To Remove: Do not raise or lower the roof sign from a short edge or the by pushing the top of the sign. Place hands underneath the long edges, lift and tilt to raise the magnets. To prevent damage to vehicle paintwork when placing or removing the sign, we recommend application of a "clear protective vinyl" (roof film) see roof sign "spares and accessories section" for protective roof film Repositioning of Mag Pads A current trend with motor vehicle manufacturers is to design cars with shallow ridges or a central channel, for example Peugeot 208, Ford Fiesta and Nissan Micra from 2017. Our signs can be used with these D section roofs, providing the optional rubber roof protector (gasket) see sku 331, is used and the mag pads are correctly positioned for full contact with the vehicle roof. Repositioning Roof Sign Magpads With care your roof sign will look great for many years however if you are changing your vehicle, it may be necessary for you to reposition the magnets or add extra spacers so that they make FULL contact with the new roof profile, should you experience any difficulty please contact us. Why Would I Need to Reposition Mag Pads?
Work on one Magpad assembly at a time and refit before starting the next.
Neo-Lite signs are fitted with Neodymium rare earth magnets which generate powerful magnetic fields. Pacemakers and magnetically stored data (credit cards, computer disks etc) may be adversely affected by strong magnets, always keep them well apart. Also note that these magnets may be attracted to steel over wide distance See Roof Sign Section -Spares and Replacement for additional products i.e. mag pad spacers, mag pads, protective rubber and roof film etc., Roof Sign Easy Care: A common sense approach to looking after your new roof sign, with proper care should last for mamy years. Cleaning your roof sign or magnetic door panels periodically with warm soapy water should be sufficient to keep the these clean, providing it is undertaken regularly. To avoid damage do not use abrasives or pressure wash your roof sign or door panels and always remove before entering a mechanical car wash. |

Getting the Best from Your Roof Sign!!!!
Aero Roof Sign- Blank You need a roof sign to advertise your business and also to ensure the safety of your clients/ learners. A roof sign essentially informs vehicles around, especially from behind that a learner driver is ahead and to allow a little more time and patience.
A Well-Designed Roof Sign is Your Advertisement and Will Bring in New Business.
A less cluttered your sign has a better impact, we advise a maximum number of 3 lines of text and forget about special effects and logos, on average your sign has about 440x190 advertising along with the required space for the L plate space for a medium sign and 500x190 for a large sign, less for the sides of an Aero roof sign.
Don't Overthink It?
Remember, you want the passengers in a vehicle 3 to 4 or more cars behind or a person standing waiting for a bus to be able to read and take note of your name and number at
30 to 50k/ph. While we, are happy to accommodate your choice of wording, line spacing or logos, remember the most important message to get across is your business name, web presence and a contact number!
About Magnetic Roof Signs.
No manufacturer can give an absolute speed rating for a roof sign, it would be impossible to assess every type of car in every possible weather condition. What we can tell you is that the signs, we supply at Driver Education Supplies have the strongest magnet assembly available in the Irish market.
Like all manufacturers, we caution that any roof sign should not be used beyond the maximum speed limit (120 kph) and also caution that any roof sign should not be used in extreme winds. Consider what you’re your expecting your roof sign to cope with, if you are driving at 120 kph into a headwind gusting up to 80 kph then you are expecting the sign to cope with a net speed of 200 kph. Air resistance increases with the square of speed, so the traditional Apex roof sign becomes a real drag as your speed increases and the forces on it can be quite substantial, not omitting the additional fuel cost. Consider removing it and placing in the boot, or using one of our aero signs which are designed for reduced drag!
Remember.
The driver is responsible for the vehicle and any load on it, so the driver (or instructor teaching a client) is responsible for taking the decision as to whether a roof sign can be safely used for the proposed lesson in the prevailing conditions. Again, common sense is required. You should always ensure you have spare Magnetic L-Plates in your vehicle should you feel that conditions are too severe to risk using a roof sign.
Upkeep
Whichever, sign you use, keep it in tip-top condition, and regularly check that the base of the roof sign is securely attached to the hood and that the magnet assemblies are secure to the roof surface. You are advised to remove the sign in suspect weather conditions and where their is risk of frost or ice. Do not "over polish" your vehicle, where the roof sign is being placed, and always remove the sign when going through car washes, and only clean your roof sign with warm soapy water, never use any hard abrasives. (see care and instructions accompanying your new sign, when delivered)
Important... Have You a Raised, Channel or a Ribbed Roof?
With the emergence of new roof detailing on modern cars, i.e., ribs, ridges, channels, curved shapes or flat roofs, it is advisable to check that the roof sign suitably fits. In many cases our signs will fit with the addition of additional roof sign spacers or by simply readjusting (moving) the mag pads. (see below... additional mag pads or mag pad spacers). If you are replacing an existing sign, measure the overall length and place it in the information box when ordering at the checkout. Alternatively give us the name, model and year, where we will endevour to advise as to suitability, you may also wish to take an image of the vehicle roof from the rear of the car and forward it to us via email. Another option would be to try on another ADI's roof sign, to see what sign more suitable for your vehicle model.
Rule of Thumb
If this option is not available, then as a general guide, stand at the rear of your vehicle, if your vehicle roof has a curvature, looking from from the rear of the vehicle, right to left, (side to side or passenger door to passenger door, it would appear that the medium sign could suit best. This sign comes with a slight curvature to accommodate the vehicles roof curvature and is 50mm shorter than the regular sign, if your roof is flat, select a regular/large sign, however, you should note we can only give advice on suitability, this advice is given in good faith, where no responsibility can be born by us for a personalised sign, once ordered and made.
Extra Mag Pads & Spacers
Please note, on some vehicles with side ribs or deep channels, you may require additional mag pads or mag pad spacers, these are simple and quick to fit. This is simply done by opening the six nuts and separate the sign hood from it's base and add the mag pad spacers or realign mag pads to a better and more suitable area on the roof and replace the hood to the base using the existing nuts and bolts. (See Also Mag Pad Repositioning Above)
Magnetic roof signs are designed to be attached to a uniform ferrous metal surface.
Magnetic roof signs are designed to be attached to a uniform ferrous metal surface. for example a panoramic glass roof or metal roof with large creases/ridges may not be capable of supporting a full-size sign. If you are unsure of the size of sign please give the make, model and year of your vehicle, where we may be able to advise, alternatively, ask a driving instructor instructor/ trainer and try on their of sign on your vehicle for size. Simply note the length x width and forward us the size and we may match it, however the final choice of roof sign rests with the purchaser, as any personalised products once made cannot be returned.
