Care for Vehicle Magnetic Decals
Instructions Before and During Use
Magnetic panels are made from easy-clean gloss white transport approved fully magnetic sheeting with a protective coating on the reverse to minimise bodywork damage. Our recommended size for door panels is 600x200mm (24” x 8”approx) which is suitable for most vehicles. Other sizes can be cut on request. Precautions Before Use: If your decal has arrived in a roll or appears creased, lay in a warm place on a flat surface for a few hours or overnight. A useful tip is to place on the warm side of a fridge or freezer. Ensure that both the vehicle panel and the underside of the decal is clean, dry and free of dust, grit and ice before applying. Panel Surfaces:
Care should be taken with grained paneling and metallic finishes such surfaces should be regularly checked over the first 90 days of use, a waxing of the vehicle body and the paneling should prevent any damage.
Re-painted or sprayed and indeed new vehicles should be avoided for the first three months and should be hand waxed before the sign is fitted, to seal the surface. Signs should be placed to the sides and rear of a vehicle, do not place over the bonnet, as engines generate heat which could result in damage your sign or vehicle. It is also recommended to remove the panels on a regular basis to allow UV light of the sun to evenly bleach the vehicle colour evenly.
Maintenance:
Remove at least once a week and wipe both sides of the panel, including the door panel dry. Wash/ clean panels with warm soapy water avoiding harsh abrasives.
Panel Removal
You must regularly (every 2-3 days) remove the panels. Lift a corner and peel off and never drag a panel across paintwork, as any grit trapped underneath could scratch the paintwork. Regular removal is particularly important in hot weather, after rain, sleet or snow and wiped dry. It is a good idea to get into the habit of removing at the end of every day and remember to always remove panels before going through a car wash
Note:
That the material will stiffen in cold weather increasing the risk of loss especially in windy conditions.
Storage:
Magnetic decals are best kept by placing on a flat surface in a warm, dry environment, To avoid creasing by storing in a 6" circle roll with the print facing outward or store flat, being aware that its a magnetic material which will attract tramp particles, so store in a clean environment and always clean the magnetic side before placing on the body after storing. If stored in a cold environment the magnetic may seem stiff, if this is the case, simply lay flat in a warm room, before placing on the vehicle. Take note, by applying excessive heat can reduce the magnetic properties of the material, in addition the long term storage against "other magnets" can also damage your signs.
Caution
The magnetic properties of the sheet comply with European standards and are "Transport Approved" as suitable for use on vehicles. Whilst extensive tests by the manufacturer have not given rise to incidences of paintwork damage whilst following the advice in this care sheet, neither the manufacturer does not guarantee that there will not be an adverse reaction between the magnetic sheet and the vehicle paintwork, should you be concerned you may purchase protective film, please see in-store.
Therefore, no warranty is expressed or implied against loss of signs or damage to any vehicle surfaces in the use of magnetic paneling / signs, as the manufacturer or supplier, have no control over how these signs will be cared for, altered, stored or used or the surfaces the will be applied to. Responsibility rests with the end user to regularly check for suspect signs of damage to their vehicle, especially for the first 90 days, and to cease using magnetic paneling as the above advice is only issued to minimise the risk, not eliminate any damage occurring.
Magnetic Door Panels
As stated magnetics if used correctly, are ideal for getting your message across when giving tuition and at the same time allows the car for private use by simply removing them and placing in the car boot along with your magnetic roof sign.
