Torsion Springs

The torsion spring should be fitted to ensure the correct operation of the clutch pedal on standard pedal sets. The spring is used to put slight downward pressure on the clutch pedal on the passenger side when the driver operates the car clutch pedal.

This is ensures that the cable remains at the correct tension in use. This spring may be also used in reverse orientation to maintain upward pressure on the dual brake pedal in static pedal sets.

Function and Use:
The spring we use on the clutch is to keep tension on the clutch cable to prevent loops and bending when the (student) original clutch pedal is used. It is important that when the dual control is fitted that the clutch on the dual control follows the original clutch (tension on the cable).

Over time the torsion spring can break...  its the nature of the product, but it should not break easily or regularly.  The fitter or the driving school or owner should make sure that if the spring breaks, it is replaced.
